# Which Peppol ID should I use?

## Use the Peppol ID stated in the recipient's invoicing instructions or registered for the document type you need to send. Do not guess the ID from the organization number.

- A Peppol ID consists of a scheme prefix and an identifier, for example `0007:5567321707`.
- Enter the recipient's ID when sending. Your own Peppol ID is the address others use to send to you.
- Swedish organizations often use an organization number with scheme `0007`. GLN uses scheme `0088`.
- Other participant identifiers may be used when registered according to Peppol's current code list.
- Check the recipient's instructions or perform a Peppol lookup instead of deriving the address yourself.

### An organization number is not always a Peppol ID

An organization number may form part of a Peppol ID, but only if the complete address is registered in the network for the document type. A larger organization may also use different IDs for different units.

If the recipient has stated a GLN-based ID, use that complete ID. Qvalia does not automatically switch between `0007` and `0088`.

### Alternative identifiers

DUNS and IBAN can be used as alternative identifiers when an organization number cannot be used for registration, in some cases for example for a Swedish sole trader. Contact Qvalia if the registration asks for an alternative identifier.

Do not use an alternative identifier simply to create another address. First check whether the existing ID should be moved to Qvalia.

### Check which ID was used

Open **Transaction log** and find the message. The `Sending party ID` and `Receiving party ID` columns show the addresses including the scheme prefix. `Direction` shows whether the message is `Sent` or `Received`.

The fields can also be used as search filters. The Peppol address is not always shown in the standard invoice details, making the transaction log the most reliable place to check it.

### If it still does not work

- **Check once more:** the recipient's complete ID, scheme prefix, document type and that the address contains no spaces.
- **Have this ready when contacting support:** Peppol ID, recipient name and CRN or organization number, document type, invoice number and error message.
